Today was my third ride and also my second flat. LOL>... But this time it was a short delay. I upgraded my pump and that made all the difference. My tire happened to find a 3" wood screw that over powered my brand new puncture resistant tube 8 KMs into the ride. I rode from Whonnock to Ridge Meadows Hospital where less than three weeks ago I had my last surgical procedure and chemo for my battle with cancer. You're never too old to "Kick Cancer's Butt". It was getting a bit warm, so I kept the ride to about 30KM. I am building up to a 100KM day.
The first day was a shake down day. Getting the cobwebs out. Started early because I had to be home for a shipment coming “between 10 and 2”.
It's been just over two weeks since my last cancer surgery and chemo treatment, but I'm all set.
Ride was going well until the unwanted hissing sound. The rear tire sprung a leak. No worries I had new tubes in my panniers and a pump, and a CO2 cartridge. LOL. Well the cartridge didn’t work, the pump didn’t work and worse it wouldn’t release from the air stem. I had to pull so hard it pulled the valve stem right off the tube!
I walked the remaining 2km home.
I bought a new pump, 2 puncture resistant tubes, and back in business. The only problem, the shipment I had to be home for didn’t show up until almost 5! I still have lots of time to get my rides in. I always do a century ride, 100kms, in one day. Stay tuned.
