Well I wanted this to be my longest ride yet and it was with 50.7km! Yeah , 28km to go to the finish line . It was the same route pretty much but I left from the centre of Saint John this time . I actually walked into the Estuary when I reached it so I could witness its peaceful sanctuary for wildlife and hoping there wasn’t anything too WILD In there waiting for me.

  • August 13th Prince of Wales bike ride
    14 Aug 2024

Back home to Saint John around 8 pm last night.

Today was the day I would be riding with my new gravel tread tires (two flat tires within three days was the reason ) purchased at Cycle Smith in Halifax.

Cycled out the highway to Prince of Wales exit and back 🔙. I chose it for the straight direction with doable hills . Lovely views of Spruce Lake and our local wind turbines and lots of highway wildflowers . 35.6km

No issues with new tires thank goodness. Tomorrow donations will be matched by the generosity of the Gerron family in Toronto.

  • August 11th Sunday Happenings ; mass , Peggy’s Cove and bike ride 🚴🏻‍♀️
    11 Aug 2024

Glorious sunny day ; after mass, Kevin Pat and I and Liz and her friend travelled to Peggy’s Cove. We were amazed at the views and actually heard a man playing the alpine horn and then another man playing the bagpipes. We visited the Swiss Air sight commemorating those who tragically lost their lives in 1998 on Flight 111.

When I returned home I hit Rails for trails here in Halifax on my bike to ride almost 25 km

  • August 9th and 10th met up with teammates
    11 Aug 2024

August 9th an hour beach time and travelling off the Island day.🌊not without stopping and buying some beautiful sunflowers 🌻 to bring to my next hosts along with PEI grown potatoes and 🥕.

On Aug 10th up early to meet team captain and his wife in Sherwater parking lot to start my 40 km ride.

Fate had another purpose for me that day as I learned how important team work is . One military engineer who ended up getting his truck to drive me back to my car with my

injured bike said “ not to worry , in the military we have a saying “ ten people in then

there are ten people going out” “ no one left behind “ … was referring to me and my bike that day after travelling 14.4 km my bike had to be air pumped every 3 km to get to our meetup point; Lawrence town beach . All in all I did about two hours waiting for help , first hour was waiting for my teammates to find me most of them were on electric bikes and they were heading out later than me and the second hour was waiting at Lawrencetown beach for my drive back to my car with my injured bike .

Happy ending was that I took it to the CycleSmithShop in Halifax (in the pouring rain ) and Jamie changed the tube in my tire and said I was good to go🚴🏻‍♀️Omg I hope this is the end of my bike trials 😱🚴🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️😎

  • August 8th ; WHAT A DAY!
    9 Aug 2024

Today I started early as I had to return to MacQueens Bike shop because of noise coming from brakes or gears . It actually was a pebble lodged somewhere . I had to be back to the farm for a noon zoom call so only got 10.43 km completed .

Sooo off I go finally in the afternoon and landing at Brackley Beach for a coastal ride around 3 . When I put my front tire on and got on the bike I noticed there was a flat on the back tire . No air in it whatsoever. Zilch!!!I tried Shaws hotel nearby as I knew they used to have bike rentals . The owner was kind enough to put air in it which solved the problem. 24.34 km later I had a full day of glorious bike riding along the shoreline. 🌊🚴🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️👏

  • August 7th Brackley Beach Coastal Ride
    8 Aug 2024

Drove to Richards around 1 pm waited 1 hour for the best lobster roll and hand cut fries . Then hopped on my bike to do a coastal ride of 25km .

I am very fortunate I get to ride for such a great cause.

A perfect summer ride included riding by kids jumping off a pier into the water , multiple monarchs flying by me and then being careful not to ride over fluffy caterpillars ready to morph into their best selves, taking a picture of The infamous Dalvay Inn from the lakeside and finally taking the wheel off my bike and putting it in the car for tomorrow’s ride and sitting at Richard’s to sip on a cold Kombucha before I head back to the farm.

  • Lorneville , Grand Bay exits
    3 Aug 2024

Started today after 2:30 pm. Drizzling and overcast but determined not to miss an opportunity to get some kilometres in and I chose to take some exits off the highway to finish coming along down the Golden Mile . That would mean I would get one of those bikers « WHEE » moments🚴🏻‍♀️so fun!

As you can see from todays photo it is not unusual to see a deer 🦌 here in Saint John .

I am feeling grateful to ride for a great cause.
