It may have taken a couple extra days to reach 1000 kms, but I did it! A beautiful first week of September made it easy to get a few extra rides in before work and in the evening.
Thanks to all of my sponsors for your kindness and generosity. For those of you that have donated in previous years, I’m very grateful for your continued support. To my new sponsors, I’m glad to have your support and hope that you’ll consider contributing to this great cause again in future years. I find hope in participating in this challenge and in learning about the many children and families it helps. Cheers!
I’m spending the last few days of August in Guelph as we’ve just moved our daughter Dana into her apartment and are helping her get settled. She’s independent, confident and intelligent - she will do great! I’m excited for this new chapter and am incredibly proud of her achievements and success!
Heading out on bike now for a quick ride around the neighborhood in attempts of getting closer to my goal. I’m less than 100 km short so I might need to ride into September to complete the challenge but I’ll get it done! Life is busy and time is the biggest obstacle in this month long event. Sure, my body’s sore but that doesn’t stop me. It’s the time I need to put aside for biking that is the biggest challenge. I’m glad to be on the home stretch!
Over 100 kms cycled this weekend, definitely putting a dent into my remaining total. Highlights were riding out and visiting my brother Paul in Lasalle on Saturday and then a ride and coffee break today with my daughter Mia who’s visiting from Ottawa.
A busy week ahead but I’m hopeful to meet my riding goal in addition to raising over $1700 for this year’s Great Cycle Challenge. I’m incredibly grateful to all my sponsors for your generosity and support!
I’m currently over 250 kms away from my goal of biking 1000 kms throughout August. This weekend is my most opportune time to crush some numbers so this is precisely what my weekend forecast is. A good night sleep is definitely in order after working nights this week and a big breakfast befor a long ride tomorrow. Let’s see where my wheels take me!
I’m thrilled to say that I’ve achieved my fundraising goal again this year and incredibly grateful to all my sponsors for their generous support! Your contributions fuel me to keep riding even when I’d rather be doing something else that doesn’t require so much energy. I’m fortunate to be healthy and able to bike, not everyone’s as lucky.
Your support, in addition to the many children who face long and challenging cancer treatments motivate me to keep riding this month to reach my 1000 km goal 🩵
Tomorrow is Kick Cancer's Butt Day!
The Garron Family has generously pledged to MATCH ALL DONATIONS received on August 14th up to $1,300,000. This is INCREDIBLE!!
After this mornings 36km ride, I’m well over the 100 km mark which is a great start for just a few days in. I’m also just over the halfway mark for my fundraising goal which means I’ve earned this years riding jersey. You can bet that I’ll post a pic when it arrives early this week 🚴🏼♀️
August is one sleep away and that means my riding starts counting towards my challenge. It’s ridiculously hot and humid and the forecast is calling for heavy rainfall over the next few days.
Might be a slower start than I’d hoped for but I’ve got a month to get it done!!
Fundraising is almost at the halfway mark which is awesome. Thanks for your support 🧡
Since we work opposite schedules 2 weeks out of the month, I don’t often pass up an invite for an outing with my hubby…especially on bikes! Headed out tonight for dinner and then continued west to see the new bridge up close. It’s still a long way from completion but amazing to see both sides finally connected. Such a beautiful night for a ride!
August isn’t quite here yet but I’m still getting out most days for a bike ride, even if it’s just riding to work and back.
Yesterday was an exciting fundraising day as I received a generous donation from a family friend who has been supporting me and this challenge for several years. Thank you Gord! I’m grateful for any donation, big or small.
I was reminded of the motivation this support brings me. It’s exciting to see the dollars increase on my fundraising page which drives me to bike!!
