I went to see the Surgeon this week. Everything seems to be healing well, but I’m still restricted from riding outside. It has more to do with heart rate and potential for hemorrhage right now than the riding. This direction extends for another month.
Just like the kids I’m riding for, we don’t always get the news that we want. Also just like those kids, I’ll take what comes my way and keep moving forward (or stationary in the case of my trainer, lol).
I’m hopped onto my indoor bike and will continue to do so. I can control my heart rate better on the trainer, but I’m not getting anywhere near the mileage that riding outdoors would garner.
I’ll keep at it and will accomplish my pledged goal, but I will need longer to do so.
Thanks to all who supported me and this cause.
Still riding indoors and still not really able to push hard, but put in a full hour today so I’ll take the small win.
Greetings all. I want to provide an update regarding my medical progress.
Yesterday I was cleared by the doctor to commence activity again (as tolerated) but still not out on the road.
I put some time in on my trainer today. I don’t get the mileage out of that like I would on the road, but it felt good to get the legs churning a little bit at least.
I see the doctor next week, and I’ll continue to follow that advice, but I feel like I’m moving forward and WILL get my Kms done, but maybe not before the end of August.
Life is short folks and can change quickly.
I’m feeling grateful.
Love to all.
Hello everyone. I wanted to share some information about me and my ability to get on my bike this year.
A couple weeks ago, I suffered an injury and concussion. This was a fluke thing and had nothing to do with this challenge or cycling. For now the Doctor has ordered that I remain off my bicycles. I have an appointment with a surgeon next week to determine if I'm healing well enough or if I will require surgery to repair the injuries. I'm hopeful for the former, but will also accept whatever the doctor says and follow their direction.
The point of all this is to let you know that I will be delayed in reaching my KM Goal this year. It is certainly my intention to reach it, but I will be delayed for sure and will likely not come in August.
I know that anyone who donates to this cause is not really that concerned about how many KMS get ridden, but I wanted to be as transparent as possible for anyone following along.
I am starting to ride a little on my home trainer (stationary), but I can't get my heart rate too high as part of the concussion protocol, so these rides will be short and sweet, but hopefully they will add up too.
Thanks for you support.
