Once you know...you can't unknow.
Childhood should be a happy, carefree time for children and their families.
But life doesn’t always play fair.
Having seen the stress families endure and the brave suffering of kids and youth undergoing treatment for childhood cancer, I hope to cycle to raise funds for this cause for as many years to come as I can.
Still a month away from the start, I see that there are almost 200 cyclists signed up who are 76 years old and older. Many have been riding to raise funds for 7 to 10 years.
In my category for 66 to 75 year old riders, 1,200 have already pledged to ride! Many in this group have a legacy of several years of riding as well.
In this time of an uncertain economy and donor fatigue with so many worthwhile efforts needing support, I am going to make the wheels go round while I can.
I set my fundraising goal aiming for $20 for every year I have been privileged to be on this planet and to ride at least 5km for each of those same years.
In truth, I will be grateful for every dollar donated and every kilometre that I am able to ride
