My late grandma

The lady in the photo is my late grandma. As I embark on my 57th trip around the sun, I am reminded that my grandma, at my age, had been gone for three years after losing her battle with cancer. It was devastating to lose my grandma when I was 15 and as I am getting older, I realize how her life was stolen at such a young age. She was a survivor of residential school, but the toll taken contributed to her early death. I wish she was here most days to see how much I've done in my life and how I've made this ride an annual thing to fight cancer. What keeps me riding some days? Well, fighting this disease on behalf of kids who fight it, but also knowing that the cancer that killed my grandma, is treatable today. In some ways, my ride is a part of my personal reconciliation plan that I live everyday. Oh goodness, the legs hurt some days and some days the rain makes life interesting, along with the many flat tires, but if this ride is for the kids, then it all is worthwhile.
