My Story

This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada

My personal involvement started 8 years ago . A family who lived across the street from my workplace was told that their beautiful daughter Olivia 11years old had cancer. Talk about not only the shock of this news to the whole family. Their lives were turned upside down in a matter of a day of the news. Months followed with Olivia in the hospital , her family by her side. This community and army of neighbours started fundraising to help the family with everyday cost while being with Olivia.

Olivia is doing well today .

Cancer is not only one country as my family found out . Staten island New York over a year ago the story I just mentioned about Olivia played out for my wife’s nephews daughter Haley . She was 10 years old . One day , life changed when they received a phone call from a doctor. They had to get Haley to the Sick kids Hospital that day as test results showed Haley had cancer . Again like Olivia the parents and family devastated. This little girl vibrant and so beautiful inside and out had to spend months in the hospital fighting this horrible cancer. Christmas in the Hospital , learn how to walk again. Her parents , what was normal family life changed that day and forever .

Again Family , schoolmates / parents created an Army to help raise money to support Haley and her family. Parents Carol and Jason .

So if anyone ask my why I do this. Haley and Olivia and the children and families that are going through this around the world . Cancer sucks
