My Story

14 Aug 2025

This will be my fourth year of fundraising for the kids fighting Cancer, and I look forward to the challenge. The first year was truly remarkable because of the huge support I received from my family and friends, old and new. I rode in B.C. and Ontario during a scheduled vacation to see my grandson there. He was on my team and had his pledge to achieve also, so we managed to each meet our targets together, what a rush. The young girl who we rode for was battling leukemia, but by the end of our challenge, she had won her battle and beat it. My second year was made even more meaningful with the passing of a young 10-year-old boy in Germany, who by chance was the grandson of a high school friend of mine in the 60's. He had written a book titled" The Hidden Land of the Dragons" his name was Alexandre Sax Gomes. So with Tesla and Alex in my heart, I beat my pledge of $2500 and reached Super Star Status. Thanks again to an even bigger support base than the previous year. The $2500 pledge included a Super Star Jersey which I wear with pride, and was able to get one for Tesla, in a very small girl size 5. Her mom says she loves it and hopefully will ride for the team with it this year. She is the real Super Star in my opinion. So this year I am again keeping their names in my mind and another survivor who is a dear friend of mine who won her battle with Cancer. I am aiming for a $10,000 target in 4 years and this gives me a chance to push and raise as much as I can to take some pressure off my 80-year-old body in this year's Challenge.
