I'm Riding For
Chris and Patrick
My Story
This will be my 7th year riding to fight kids cancer! I've had a lot of fun and made many friends along the way.
I learned of the ride after my friend Chris died of cancer in 2018. We were devastated by the speed the disease. From diagnosis to his passing was only four months. The doctors tried what they could during this short time. Chris was only 42 when he passed.
Through my work with Sick Kids I've developed a sense of scope of cancer in this nation. 1700 kids are diagnosed each year. I've met parents who have lost their children. It has been heart breaking despite the good moments.
So please, join me as I ride to fight this horrible disease!

Mid month turnaround!
19 Aug 2025It's been quite a couple weeks! I was in the shop almost 3 shifts repairing probablems on all parts of the bike. The biggest being the headset (steering) which I finally managed to get working properly. Special thanks goes to Allan from Recycle Cycles who loaned me a wheel to finish this ride.
Anyway, it looks like I'll be at 500km today or tomorrow!

Day 1 disaster!
2 Aug 2025On my way to work today I thought I heard a clanging or metalic click. I assumed it was the derailleur and tried changing gears. The sound went away!
So I completed an entire shift of work and decided to put my bike in one of their bike stand to eliminate the noise which I assumed to be creaking.
To my horror I immediately saw some spokes were broken. FOUR to be exact. I put my Sick Kids kit back in the bag.
I managed to get the bike home. This is where having seven bikes comes in handy. Thing was they all seem to have a problem. I pulled out the Le June road bike. Its cheesy model name: The Tour de France.
I wasn't used to the drop bars but I made myself ride several Chedoke/Herkimer laps. Each of these is like 2km, but I was afraid to ride too far from home in case the tires which hadn't been ridden in a couple years got a flat. Luckily I had an audio book playing on the bluetooth: Angels and Demons by Dan Brown.
After about 14 km of these loops I decided to call it a night. My weak arms were tired from holding me in the drop. We'll that day sucked!
