I'm Riding For
all kids fighting cancer
My Dad, Alan Stubbs was diagnosed with metastatic cancer believed to have started in the bladder and then moved to other internal organs. The cancer took him from us. My Nana, Anne Atchison, fought breast cancer only to have a brain tumour that took her life. My Pop, Joe Atchison, lost his life to stomach cancer. It's been many years, more than 30 since I lost my Nana and Pop both passed and i miss them. Its one been just over 3 years since I lost my dad, it's still fresh and it will motivate me to ride. What is even worse is I have friends and colleagues who have lost a child to cancer and have children fighting cancer. Kids should enjoy life and not fight for their lives. Let's end cancer and cancer in children.
My Story
When my oldest daughter was young, we visited Sick Kids hospital many times and I was so thankful she wasn't there fighting cancer. Seeing little ones connected to IVs, in wheelchairs, spending months in hospital trying just to survive was heartbreaking. This is something small I can do and this year is my 6 th year of doing something to help make the lives of these little heroes better.
Thanks in advance.
