My Story
Great Cycle Challenge – 6th Year Statement
This summer marks my 6th year participating in the Great Cycle Challenge, riding to support kids fighting cancer. But for me, it’s more than a physical challenge. It’s a yearly ritual of remembrance, resilience, and giving.
I started riding in memory of a special child whose short life continues to leave a deep impact. Each year, this challenge becomes an opportunity to keep their legacy alive — not just through fundraising, but through the values they represent: faith, love, and the power of community support.
This year is extra meaningful. Konstantina, my niece, a 17-year-old from Greece, has joined us in Canada for the summer. She's here not just to visit, but to learn — to witness what it means to carry purpose, to set a goal, and to move forward even after loss. This experience is part of her healing too. She reminds me how important it is to guide younger generations to find worth in doing something for others, even when life has shaken their foundations.
Together, we ride — for the children fighting cancer, for the families who carry the weight of hope, and for the memory of those we’ve lost too soon. I am also riding for my beloved friend Michel, who lost the fight on April 2025. As well as for Ioanna my beautiful athlete and friend Nancy, who were fighters by every meaning of the word. Lastly, worth mentioning little George who passed away too soon this April as well..Each kilometer is a tribute. Each donation, a spark of hope. And every time we get back on the bike, we say: we will not give up on you.
