My Story

31 Jul 2025

This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

“Good morning Jennifer, First let me say happy birthday to you. Then I want to say.Chi-Miigwech to you for the amazing donation towards the fight against children’s cancer. I am honoured to be sponsored by you and I have to say that you a great example of a person who walks a good path. So, I am extremely grateful to you. I have some news about this year’s ride. On July 15th, I suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized both at Wiarton, Ontario, and then the following day in Kitchener, Ontario. And angiogram was performed and stent was placed in my heart. There will be a fair bit of follow up in the coming weeks and months, but doctors assure me that there is a good chance for an almost full recovery. I hope that you are doing well and that you have some treats on this, your birthday. Sincerely, Raymond.”

“Good morning Dave and Lynn, Thank you so very much for this wonderful donation in support of my rides to raise funds for children’s cancer and the sick children’s hospital in Toronto. Your donation is very much appreciated by myself and it has certainly been my pleasure to know the both of you. Dave, you shared some really big news, with the sale of your business and your looking forward to retirement. I hope that you have many many years of happiness in your retirement, and that your travels take you to the warmest spots with the best barbeque available. Happy August 1 when I was out there today at six and cycled 10 km. So it begins. Raymond.”

“Hello Audra, I was quite honoured when I saw that you had made a donation to my fundraising campaign. The donation you made well help change the lives of young people and I know that they will appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity. This is my seventh year of writing and supportive these young children and the work that is done by Sick kids hospital in Toronto. You may know that I am a cancer survivor as well and so the importance of making people who suffer from this horrible disease better, is certainly worth doing. I was out this morning and cycled 10 km and I watched my heart rate the whole time and stayed well below what my doctors had told me would be problematic if I went above. It’s kinda like watching the needle on a radiator of an old car to make sure it doesn’t boil over. But also equally fun. Lol. So,Chi-Miigwech for supporting me and my fundraising efforts. It is appreciated and I thank you from the bottom of my heart, such as it is. Raymond”

“Good morning Jon, I wanted to thank you for your support for my great cycle Canada challenge in support of children with cancer. All support is gratefully accepted and acknowledged. As you know, I had a heart attack last week and it may have an impact on my Availability to complete my pledge of doing 400 km during August. I certainly think that I am capable of riding 400 km, if it is not too hot. But it seems that I have all kinds of appointments now for further medical procedures and consultations, and so I may be losing some of the time that I would have to do those rides. Once again, thanks so much for supporting your dad. Love, Pops.”

“Good morning Andrea, Thank you so much for sponsoring me on my ride this year. You have been such a solid support over the years and I thank you very much. I will send you an email to give you more information, but I wanted to let you know that I may not meet my Kilometre goal this year. The reason is that on July 15, in the evening, I had a pretty large heart attack. I was taken to the hospital in town here and then transferred by ambulance to Kitchener. I had an angiogram there and I’m pretty sure that the prognosis looks promising. I’m resting at home now and feeling pretty good. Once again, thank you for your sponsorship. Love, uncle Ray.”

“Hello Linda, I was thrilled to see that you had made a donation to my cause in raising funds for children’s cancer and sick children’s Hospital. You have been a great support to me over the years and I thoroughly appreciate it. I noticed recently where you had gone to the islands for a few weeks of vacation. I was not surprised that you went north instead of south and it looks like you had an awesome time. The very best to you and your family as we all journey through Perhaps some uncertainty with the tariff of wars and that man who runs south of the border. Take good care and thank you so much for your kind donation. Raymond.”

“Good morning Kelly, I was thrilled to see that you had made a donation to my fundraising efforts to raise funds to fight children’s cancer and also to support the sick children’s hospital in Toronto, where a lot of effort is put forward to make the lives of children who suffer from various types of cancer better. So, thank you very much for thinking of these young people and also for thinking to support my fundraising campaign. I was out this morning and cycled 10 K just to get things started. It was a great morning, although a little cool. The best wishes to yourself and your family as we go forward in this life. Once again, I am grateful for your kindness and generosity. Raymond.”
