I'm Riding For
James Wiebe, Peggy Norman, Jodi Wiens, Ben Kamp
In early 2018, my beloved stepbrother lost his battle with cancer. He is missed by family and friends but his memories live on. In the past few years, my stepbrother is only one of my friends and family members that are battling or have lost the battle to the C. This year I ride for him, my family and friends and all the peeps who are affected by this disease. We can only hope that one day it will be beat.
My Story
2024 sees my 8th year for supporting this amazing cause. This year though, I ride as a Champion for the cause.
Over the past few years, the Great Cycle Challenge rides have occurred over the month of August. This year I am committing to riding 200KMs throughout the month.
Fundraising started in June.
To date (7 years) I (with the help of all the donors) have raised close to $22500 towards this fight against cancer. This year’s fundraising goal is $3000.
As a previous donor and sponsor I am again asking if you are able to support this cause for 2024.
In early 2018, I lost my beloved stepbrother James Wiebe and my ride this year again will be dedicated to him as well as the friends that lost their battle within the last few years.
It is unfair that this disease takes so many people from our lives every year, and it is especially unfair that it inflicts not only adults but children as well.
Right now, over 1,400 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
