My Story
Last year, close friends lost their 9-year-old granddaughter after a long, brave fight with leukemia. It was devastating — for her family and for everyone who knew Amanda.
Today, cancer ranks #1 among diseases that cause death for children in Canada. That's why this August I'm hoping to raise $1500 for the Sick Kids Foundation. To do that I'm biking 1500 kms as part of the Great Cycle Challenge – that’s 1 dollar for every kilometre I cycle.
My plan is average 50 kms per day. To achieve that, I plan to get out on my bike every day. (And yes I was out in the heat this past weekend - on Saturday I cycled 60 kms to Port Credit with Lapdogs Cycling Club, on Sunday I went 85 kms to Unionville with Toronto Bicycling Network.)
I know we all have many requests for charitable support - but if you’re able to contribute $10, $20 or $30, it will help prevent other families from suffering the heartbreak that my friends experienced.
