Nora
Sweet Nora...we miss you and would give anything to have you back. I wish you were here so that your brother and sister could know you. No families should have to lose their beloved kids to cancer.
My Story
Well, I know some of you in my entourage can cycle this much in a day, but this old, out-of-shape myasthenic mama is starting slow....
I plan to dust off my old bike, make sure it still has two tires, and cycle a minimum of 100km in August, my Nora's birthday month, to raise money to fight kids' cancer.
This beauty would be turning nineteen August 4th and would be home for the summer after her first year of university......if little kids didn't die of cancer.
If you need a push to get more active, come join my team or register on your own and challenge yourself to bike 20, 200, or 2000 km in August.... for your health, for kids and families fighting cancer, for Nora.

Made it!!
31 Aug 2025Well, I've never been accused of finishing things before the last minute, and these 100km were no exception. Today I needed a long (but beautiful) ride through Fish Creek Park to meet my goal, so Matt & I turned it into an afternoon date.
I had secretly hoped to log WAY more kilometres than I’d committed to this month, but there were a few hiccups… of course. At least my 20 year old bike got some improvements this year, like new gear shifters, a new seat, new lock, and new kickstand. My handlebars still need some adjusting, though maybe I just need new wrists.
Charles (15) impressively biked more days this month than not, and despite not logging many of his rides, I suspect he tripled my distance.
A big thanks to all of those who donated to conquer kids’ cancer. This month Nora has been on my mind more than usual, both because of the bike challenge and as I watch friends send their kids off (or back) to university. Thank you for showing my girl love with your sponsorship and encouragement. ❤️
