My Story

16 Aug 2024

This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

Cheryl

I swear that something is working against Cari and I cycling our way along the Rails to Trails. Last year, there seemed to be bad weather or trail washouts that kept us at bay. Today, we started where the washout from last year had existed across from the Chester Train Station. My ebike now working like an ebike thanks to Cari's husband Bill - made even uphill enjoyable. No two-wheeled torture for me. Then, my new seat slipped forward. I stopped and

retightened several times before surrendering and perching on the back edge. Minor issue. Then we came to a dead stop, finding ourselves facing a bridge closed sign. After much deliberation, we decided to head back and continue from the opposite side another day. We'll get you, my pretties!

  • Ebike or not an Ebike
    1 Jul 2025

Three years ago, I decided to use my tax return money and buy an ebike. I knew nothing of the ebike rebate; buy from these places and a bike above this price to qualify. I chose a bike on for half price for $800. It would

be delivered to my door. When it

arrived, I had to complete assembly. I had to attach the wheels to the frame, attach the forks and handle bars and adjust the brakes. It hasn't fallen apart on me, the brakes have always worked, but there's no power other than my own. I spent last summer thinking I should sell it and convert my Schwin. Over winter I got to thinking, maybe I missed something. Just one thing would likely mess it up. The bike shops are inundated with customers at this point, I don't want to be one of them.

I also want a saddle seat; hate, hate, hate the other ones. Not all

    of me is equally padded.

On the upside, Cari and I got our first (just warming up ride) in this evening.
