I'm Riding For
The cause
My Story
When I read about the great work that sick kids does I want to make a difference. So here I am a MIMI, Gmother, to two boys They are loud, lively, greatly loved and importantly, they are healthy. I am blessed. Today, there is a child in hospital undergoing treatment for Cancer and parents are worried in a way I cannot imagine. We have to try harder to fix this.
This August I ride again in the Great Cycle Challenge for the 8th year hoping that my contribution added to others will make a BIG difference.
So I am hoping to raise funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation as they continue their work in developing treatments for childhood cancer. Your support will change little lives and all you have to do is put your hand in your wallet and I will put my feet on the pedals.
Please support me with anything that you can manage. Let’s all be part of the solution 👍
Thank you.

It's beginning to feel a lot like......fall
21 Aug 2025It is with great sadness that I put on long cycling pants today. It's a bit nippy. Whereas the lake has looked like the Mediterranean with the sun beating down on it now it looks more like the North Sea or at least the home of the Kraken. Bbbrrrrrr I want to shout out to all of the cyclists out there who are supporting this great cause. Kudos to you. I have read that some drivers have been annoyed by cyclists on the road. I too have experienced a few interesting hand signals that are not ASL. I have had vehicles and trailers that have been a tad too close. Let's share the road and share the love. We are doing this because we care and want to make a difference. Make space for cyclists everybody and make space in your heart for this great cause. Be part of this. This cause is making a difference 💕💕Donate to me or anybody cycling for these children. We got this.

Ride in memory of Joe Louis. My wing man.
16 Aug 2025The corn is now as high as the proverbial elephants eye. The heat has dropped from incineration to frying and I am counting blessings. Blessings that despite my biblical age I can still cycle and support a great cause. Blessings for my Grand children. Blessings for my partner who puts up with me and quells the urge to suffocate me in my sleep. Blessings for my daughter who managed to inherit my good bits. Some folks are probably struggling to find that silver lining, to find any blessing. Through this cause we have a chance to support by donating and showing that we care. We got this. You got this. Let's do this.

And the heat continued
13 Aug 2025Slowly but surely goes the cycling. Despite the air quality and heat the rides are really interesting. The fruit is hanging from the trees or stocking the road side stalls. Peaches and sweetcorn by the plenty. Lots of hawks up on the ridge today it did occur to me that they were circling me. Hmmmm must keep my eye on that.

What a difference a day makes.
1 Aug 2025From scorched earth to a pleasant cool breeze that followed me on the kick off cycle ride. The ride was easy although I had forgotten a few important things.
1- the roads in Hamilton have more holes than Emmental cheese.
2- bike lanes seem to be for landscaper trucks, trailers and broken glass. Whats with all of the glass?
3- That most bike accidents are due to the rider avoiding 1 and 2 and only 7% of accidents are due to being run over. Who knew.
So....with a 93% chance of survival I did my first ride for an amazing cause. I saw lots of children out playing on scooters, playing basket ball. Laughing, just being kids. That is a stark reminder to those who cannot. A stark reminder for all of us. Let's count our blessings. Hug our kids. Be grateful and donate. Donate to me, to any of the riders. Let's fix this.
