My Story

27 Aug 2024

This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

  • Gratitude and Giving Back

    Looking at my schedule, I ask myself why I chose to sign up for this challenge knowing that the addition of yet, another to-do, will be overwhelming. Yes, it will be, but I’ve always had a knack for helping others in times of need. On a surface level, this may be just “a challenge” but for me, I see it as a channel to be grateful and continue giving back. It helps change my point of view to understand that, although I may be busy and overwhelmed with things to do, I am healthy and strong enough to get them done so why not help out those who don’t have that choice.

    This is an opportunity for me to not only get back into cycling but to raise money for children with cancer so they can also get back to their fun activities.

    And for these reasons, I will keep riding, raising money and recognizing the blessings that come with every step of this journey.
