My Story

For 9 years, I've taken part in the Great Cycle Challenge to raise funds for children's cancer research. But HOO BOY, this year hits different.

In late 2023 I was diagnosed with neuroendocrine carcinoma, a rare form of breast cancer. After surgery, chemo, a WACKY reaction to chemo that caused kidney failure and almost killed me, and now facing radiation and a pharmaceutical protocol for 5 to 10 years, it has been a physical and emotional roller coaster, one I had to fight like hell to get through. And yet, here I am! Ready to do everything I can to compete this year, even if my body is not quite as capable as it once was.

So this time,... it's personal. I cannot imagine the pain and the fear that children (and their parents) go through when a kid has cancer. It makes me angry, to be honest. This universe can be cruel, but humanity does not have to be. This is my small way to make a big difference.

Over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

Please support me by making a donation to Sick Kids Hospital. Their work changes lives, and this challenge helps me to do something meaningful in the face of everything I have been through this past year. Out of pure spite - let's flip cancer the bird and do something great, together.
