This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it. Just like my son Ashton and the many others that had fought their battles right up to their last breath, as well as the ones who still continue to fight and the ones who have yet to begin their fight. My son Ashton was such a kind loving person who would light up any room when he walked into it. He had a huge heart and cared for others putting everyone before himself even while he was doing treatments. Ashton began his journey on his 17th bitrthday JULY 28, 2021 when he recieved a confirmed OSTEOSARCOMA dx . he began the 1st of 30 treatments right away . OCTOBER 14, 2021 surgery options were presented and Ashton recieved a through the knee amputation, he thrived and didnt take his life for granted , he worked towards learning to be able to live as independantly as he could as an amputee and stayed positive through everything. MARCH 25, 2022 was his last round of treatment , APRIL 28, 2022 was his first check up and he was CANCER FREE . FEB 27, 2023 he relapsed and passed DEC 4, 2023 peacefully at home. he was a fighter my inspiration my hope . for anyone interested can read more about Ashton and his journey on my personal fb page as his posts are public . So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
