Emilia is more than just a friend to April; she's a sister in arms, a comrade in their shared battle against Infant Leukemia. Their bond was forged in the depths of adversity. My Story
In August, my daughter April and I will be starting on our third 250km journey in the Great Cycle Challenge Canada to fight kids' cancer. This cause is deeply personal to us, as April's courage continues to inspire and drive our efforts.
A few years ago, our shining star, April, was diagnosed with Infant Leukemia. Her journey through intense chemotherapy treatments showcased her incredible bravery and the immense risks that young cancer warriors face. Despite these challenges, April turned her personal battle into a personal mission, raising over $5000 for SickKids during last year's fundraiser.
This year, we are more determined than ever. Each year, over 1,700 children in Canada are diagnosed with cancer. Our 250km challenge is tough, but it is nothing compared to the daily struggles these kids and their families endure. Children like April and her friend Emilia, who was diagnosed with the same condition, should be enjoying life, not fighting for it. Emilia has been a steadfast companion to April, and together, their friendship has been a source of strength and support throughout this journey.
I am riding to honor April's journey and to support other children who are facing similar battles. Together, we can end childhood cancer and give these kids the future they deserve.
